Aporo is studying a Conjoint Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Music. He is passionate about both subjects and is looking forward to challenging himself to seek personal excellence in these subjects. At this stage he intends to pursue either a career in Opera or as an Aerospace Engineer.

Aporo is a well-rounded young man, participating in many performing arts, sporting, cultural, and academic groups. As Head Chorister he has lead Dilworth's Premiere choir, Fortissimo, to the national stage and has performed with Dilworth’s Kapa Haka group at the highest regional level. He has been actively involved in Dilworth’s musical productions, including playing a lead role in this year’s performance. In the realm of sports, he loves rugby, and more recently took up athletics, where he went on to compete at a regional level.

Aporo is determined to always do his best at whatever he sets his mind to. He has a passion and drive to learn and further his skills in both engineering and music, making him a real force with a thirst to excel.

Charlie Beecham

Auckland University of Technology

Charlie is pursuing a Bachelor of Business at AUT and he hopes to become an Accountant when he graduates.  He is eager to expand his business knowledge and explore the potential career opportunities a Business degree will offer him. Charlie also enjoys computer programming and learning about Artificial Intelligence and how it will shape the future.

While attending Dilworth School, Charlie actively engaged in extracurricular activities, including the Tech Team, School Aid, and the investment group.  His active participation in these groups shows his teamwork capabilities and willingness to dedicate time to assisting others. 

Charlie thrives in collaborative settings, demonstrating a strong work ethic and excellent communication and problem-solving skills when working within a team.

 

Gene King

Gene will start at the University of Auckland in 2024, enrolling in a Bachelor of Science majoring in Geography.  His areas of interest are geoinformation systems and spatial analysis.  He would like to pursue a career in physical geography, specifically in the field of urban planning.

Gene is a committed and diligent student who had already achieved NCEA Level 3 with an excellence endorsement half- way through his final year of school.  He is looking forward to the next chapter of his learning and development and is extremely grateful to both Dilworth School and now SEF for the opportunities they have and will provide to him.

Gene’s chosen sport is basketball, and he has played at a premier level for two years, enjoying the camaraderie and competition.  He intends to get involved with basketball at university and give back to the Dilworth community by staying involved with developing upcoming players or teams as the opportunity arises.


Harry Liu
Head Boy 2023

Harry is an extrovert who enjoys meeting new people and sharing different experiences. He finds being in the outdoors a good release from stress and he enjoys rock climbing. He is very interested in biology which is why he has chosen to study health sciences. 

Harry is goal orientated and likes to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle, which allows him to be productive and active, while also spending time with his friends and family. He also hopes to join the Ministry of Defence, in due course, which would not only give him an opportunity to improve his discipline, but also give him a more unique experience within a medical career.

As Head Boy of Dilworth in 2023, Harry is used to a busy life. He was also a Student Council member, the Student Committee Leader and the Head of Amargh House.

Harry is also strong academically, achieving NCEA Level 1 and 2 with Excellence and on track to achieve Level 3 with Excellence also. 


Oliver Dunwoodie

Oliver will begin his degree with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology before continuing with a postgraduate diploma of Forensic Science. Oliver then intends to use this degree to positively impact New Zealand society via the police force.

He is a well-rounded person, participating in many sporting, cultural, academic and community groups.  Though already active in all these areas Oliver is still eager to continue learning and expand/diversify his knowledge. Oliver's ability to endorse NCEA level 3 with excellence through lockdowns and uncertain times is a testament to his academic determination and dedication. 

Oliver’s keen interest in travelling has led him to gain a scholarship to sail on the Spirit of Adventure for ten days in 2021 and to be of three successful applicants selected for a gap year tutoring opportunity at the Royal School of Dungannon in 2023. This gap year will allow Oliver to have many new experiences and to learn about the world and himself before returning to NZ and focusing on his studies.

Noah Pickering

Noah intends to study a Bachelor of Science majoring in Computer Science at the University of Auckland. He is looking forward to exploring the many ways computer science is used and to discover his area of interest, which he thinks will be programming. His logical thinking, problem-solving and passion for learning will be valuable assets throughout his studies and career.

Noah has many hobbies, such as football, gaming, and spending time with his family. He had the privilege of captaining Dilworth School’s second X1 football team in 2023, which allowed him to develop and enhance their skills and communication, reliability, and teamwork. He also learnt a lot in the process.

Oliver Sheehy

Oliver intends to study law and arts majoring in media, building on both his passion and natural talents for building arguments and seeking truth. Once he graduates, Oliver would like to work as a Barrister and give back to his community, family, and Dilworth School.

He is a well-rounded young man, having participated in a wide range of activities and groups throughout his time at Dilworth School. These include the Tech team, Debating Team, School-Aid, Choir, Concert Band, Media Team, Rock Climbing Team, and as a valuable member of the Speech and Drama group.

Oliver's debating team placed second in the Auckland regional debating competition. He is also talented in public speaking, having come second and third in the school speech competitions in 2022 and 2023 respectively, while also achieving Grade 7 in the Public Speaking exams with Honours. Oliver’s success at debating and public speaking should hold him in good stead through his legal and media studies.

In his time at Dilworth, Oliver has achieved NCEA Levels 1 and 2 with Excellence and is also on track to achieve Level 3 with excellence. He has a talent and an interest in writing – also very useful for his chosen future career as a Barrister.

Oliver is interested in reading, films, and studying media projects in his free time. He enjoys creating films as a hobby. He is looking forward to beginning the next chapter of his life at University.

Sione is studying a Bachelor of Property and he is keen to see which direction this will lead him to in the property sector.  He is willing to put myself forward and challenge himself.

Sione is a well-rounded young man who has been involved in a lot of extracurricular activities at Dilworth School.  He has played 1st XV Rugby and he has been a member of the concert band.  He can play multiple brass instruments and the piano.  He has been a school prefect and a leader of a cultural group and received excellence school results.

He is motivated to become the first person in his family to graduate from university.

William Lyall

William is studying communications at AUT, allowing him to develop and utilise his communications skills, with a view to working in the private and public sectors in the future.

William is a passionate public speaker and has competed at national public speaking competitions. He enjoys and is good at public speaking which should give him an edge in his communications study.

In his time at Dilworth, William has experienced academic success, gaining excellence endorsements at NCEA Levels 1 and 2 and he is on track to achieve Level 3 with Excellence.

He has also learnt leadership skills through being a house prefect, captain of the running group, and deputy leader of the boarding committee.

William has diverse interests out of school including playing the guitar, enjoying the outdoors, and recycling sculptures. He is looking forward to embarking on the next chapter in his life at University.
